Examination

Sunday morning started off with beautiful weather and a great Worship Service. As the lodge started to fill for breakfast a peaceful calm could be felt throughout the camps. No one complained about the "gospel" songs this year, and there was no group of "laughers" trying to drown out the music. After the group sang "This Mountain" I stood up & explained what that song meant to me, and asked if others would sing it with me. I was almost in tears as we all finished this special song together. I could not think of a better way to start any day! Even our Morning judge was in the lodge eating breakfast, and later commented to me on what a "special" group of members we have! Normally by this time people are tiered and cranky with each other, no so this year, everyone was having a wonderful time growing new friendships (smile).

Our morning judge promised to do a critique for all observers, and that he did! As each group of dogs was judged he would explain THE JUDGES PERSPECTIVE to the audience. Even though we had less entries then on the previous days, this show took the longest! Even after the crowd was getting hungry smelling those huge steaks on the grill, nobody wanted to leave the tent! The critiques were absolutely fantastic, and during lunch people came up to me saying that they learned more about their dog (as well as other information) at this show, then ever before! Mr. Gravonic took his time explaining structure & movement, and even helped some of the handlers after the show, so that they could do better the next time they entered a ring! During lunch I was flooded with requests from members that definitely wanted us to invite this super judge back next year!

Yearly since 1974, Shiloh Shepherd™ owners and fanciers from across the continent (and beyond)  have had the privilege of attending Homecoming, an event started by our Breed Founder, Tina Barber, and sponsored, since 1991, by the Shiloh Shepherd™ Dog Club of America, Inc.

Unfortunately we have not been able to share the original pictures taken prior to 1998 due to the tragedy that befell the original Shiloh Shepherds farm, but some of them may still be seen inside of the old Newsletters!!

Thanks to Rich Lewis and Karen Ursel, we have been able to recreate ALL of the recent years, since 1996, and would like to share these pages with you!
