As the afternoon show was about to start, 6 month old Noah (an Artus son) showed up just in time! He turned a lot of heads, and even though he was not the pick "show" puppy from that litter, he made his presence known quickly. First he won his class, then he beat the older puppies that had won their classes, and finally he was up against the "big boys" and walked out as WINNER'S DOG!! Champion pointed--his first time in the ring--against several older champion pointed dogs!!

Karen (his breeder) was on cloud nine already, then to top it off her 11 year old son took Beauty (Noah's dam) in and walked out with BEST IN SHOW!

Now it was time for show pictures and then the Fun Classes! We didn't want anyone to walk out without a medallion! Two people (yes, people) had already received one each for falling in the ring (smile) now it was time for all of the pets to get theirs too! The owner had to name their category (whatever fit their dog best) and then demonstrate it!! Jenna was classified as having OCSCD (obsessive compulsive stick chasing disorder) and she sure proved it! Avalanche's Golden Retriever roommate could make the Shilohs bark just by walking past them! Cesar was the most loving since he would kiss anyone that bent over to pet him, etc., etc., etc. Everyone had a great time cheering on each entry, and the dogs just loved the attention and their awards.

Then it was time for a fantastic barbecue, with all the trimmings. During dinner 3 volunteers were selected to open the ballot box and count out the votes. Our new advisory board members were announced, in the order of the number of votes:

It was furthered announced that I was appointing Lisa Barber as our new Vice President, and abstaining from any voting privileges, except in the event of a tie.

The evening ended with a giant (100 people cake, donated by Billy) and a case of champagne brought by Pam!

The only complaint I heard in the past 4 days came from those that would have to diet for the next four weeks to compensate for all the food and snacks they consumed.

As everyone relaxed with their cake and wine, we had another great time of fellowship! No stress this year--no conflicts--no arguments--just a great time with all of the new and old friends we will soon miss as Homecoming week slowly ends.
